A clean, well-appointed, modern and friendly hotel within easy walking distance of downtown Arusha. It resembles a chain hotel in décor and service levels, but has views of both Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro from the grounds.
The spacious, clean rooms are quiet if they overlook the pool and gardens; the main road can be busy at night. All the rooms are supplied with air-conditioning, which can be problematic at times, and mosquito nets for the opening windows. The en-suite showers or large bathtubs are usually supplied with sufficient hot water, and the Wi-Fi in the rooms is free of charge. The televisions are situated to be easily viewed from most of the beds, which are large and comfortable. Room keys may need to be reset often.
The breakfast choices are limited, the service levels can slip here a little, but the meals are reasonably priced. The a la carte options for lunch and dinner are recommended above the buffet. Both bar and restaurant meals can be taken on the patio overlooking the pool.
The diversions offered by Kibo Palace are free Wi-Fi, which is a little on the slow side like the rest of Arusha; internet access is also offered through desk-top computers in the lobby’s business centre. There is a beautiful, clean pool set in quiet gardens, and an excellent gymnasium with saunas. The currency rates are reasonable, and the ‘Left Luggage’ service is free of charge. Arranging transportation is easy, as there are always taxi drivers in the parking lot.
