Safari Itinerary LAKE 202

2 Day Safari to Tarangire & Ngorongoro Crater

This safari is recommended throughout the year.

15th July 2022: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

Once you have completed customs formalities and collected your luggage, please exit the airport building and then look out for our driver who should be wearing a black Team Kilimanjaro T-shirt and carrying a placard with your name on it, who will be waiting under a shelter for you at the meeting point outside. Our driver will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha (please let us know whether you'd like us to arrange this for you) for your overnight stay.

Optional: Your safari guide will come to your hotel for your pre-safari briefing at approximately 1800, during which he will introduce himself, brief you on everything that will be happening during the safari, and answer any questions you may have.

16th July 2022: Your safari guide will collect you from your hotel in Arusha at approximately 0730 to start your safari. Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire National Park for a game drive. Afternoon transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for overnight at Rhino Lodge, close the the Crater's rim.

17th July 2022: After an early breakfast, descend into Crater for game drive. Afternoon transfer to Arusha for overnight (own hotel booking, or let us know if you'd like us to book this for you).

Alternative: drop-off at either Arusha Airport (code: ARK) or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight to Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ), where you'll be collected and transferred back to your hotel.

Booking of domestic flights between ARK / JRO and ZNZ are most cost-effectively obtained by booking directly via the Precision Air website.

If you have spent the night in Arusha:

When considering an ascent of Kilimanjaro we frequently receive enquiries about what climbers should expect in terms of temperatures and precipitation. While this information is of course useful, it tells only a very small part of the story in terms of informing a climber how they should prepare.

Tipping is a universal custom on Kilimanjaro and on safari and has always constituted a significant proportion of a guide or porter’s salary. It is alleged that there are even companies operating locally that do not pay their staff any salaries and that these workers rely exclusively on tips.
