8 Day TK Lemosho, Day Safari with Acclimatisation, Town & Coffee Tour, Hot Springs, 9 Day Safari to Tarangire, Manyara, Eyasi, Ngorongoro & Serengeti

This safari itinerary is recommended for the discerning traveller visiting from June to November - as this is when the migration is expected to be in the Mara Region - and who wants to minimise wasted transiting time in the vehicle.


16th August 2024: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) at 0735 on flight QR 1499.

Once you have completed customs formalities and collected your luggage, please exit the airport building and then look out for our driver who should be wearing a black Team Kilimanjaro t-shirt and carrying a placard with your name on it, who will be waiting under a shelter for you at the meeting point outside. Our driver will transfer you to The Outpost Lodge for your first night stay.

Arusha National Park

17th August 2024: Collected from your hotel in Arusha at around 0730. Transferred by vehicle to Arusha National Park Gate for registration. Proceed with vehicle to viewpoint at end of vehicle track.

From here, we walk towards the Ash Cone, to an altitude of around 2,400 metres, with picnic lunch along the way, achieving a useful, low intensity acclimatisation day prior to starting your Kilimanjaro climb tomorrow.

On a clear day, this vantage point affords excellent views of Kilimanjaro’s peak, 42 miles away.

After lunch, descend on foot to vehicle and begin a short safari around the Momella Lakes where we hope to see some of the following: giraffe, elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest.

Late afternoon, return to The Outpost Lodge in Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Arusha Town and Coffee Tour

18th August 2024: Early morning pick by TK driver and transferred to Arusha for town tour with guide, concluding with a Bean to Cup coffee planation tour at Onesmo's Coffee Plantation. Overnight at The Outpost Lodge.

Your chief guide will come to your hotel for your pre-climb briefing at approximately 1800, during which he will introduce himself, brief you on everything that will be happening throughout the duration of the climb, check any kit that you may have concerns over, issue any kit hire items that have been requested and he will also deal with any final pre-climb administration and answer any questions you may have.


19th August 2024: Your mountain guide and supporting crew will collect you from your hotel at approximately 0730 to transfer you to Kilimanjaro's Lemosho Gate to start your open 8 day TK Lemosho β€˜Advantage Series’ climb, finishing on 26th August 2024.

26th August 2024: We will collect you from Mweka Village when you finish your climb and will return you to The Outpost Lodge for your overnight stay.

Hot Springs

27th August 2024: This is probably the best place to swim. Emanating from within the earth, the geo-thermally warmed water is constantly renewed and is therefore very fresh and clear and clean. It’s a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours with family, or to relax before or after a climb.

Hot Springs

The distance from Arusha to the hot springs is 69 km and the journey normally takes around 1 hour 45, so one should allow 5-6 hours for this excursion.

Optional: If requested, your safari guide will come to your hotel at approximately 1800, during which he will introduce himself, brief you on everything that will be happening during the safari, and answer any questions you may have.


28th August 2024: Your safari guide will pick you up from The Outpost Lodge in Arusha around 0700 for your transfer to Tarangire National Park for a guided game walk and game viewing.

Tarangire Walking Safari

Late afternoon, you will be transferred to Nasikia Ndovu Tented Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

29th August 2024: Morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. Late afternoon transfer to Lake Manyara for your overnight stay at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge.

30th August 2024: Morning game drive in Lake Manyara, followed by an afternoon transfer to Lake Eyasi for your overnight stay at Ziwani Lodge.

31st August 2024: In the early morning, transfer from your lodge to a location recently scouted by your local Eyasi guide. Here, we will join Hadzabe Bushmen hunters on their morning hunt, gaining insights into hunting and survival training. Later, we'll proceed to a larger settlement to meet the Hadzabe ladies and acquire some of their foraging skills.

Transfer in the afternoon to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim for your overnight accommodation at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

1st September 2024: Early morning descent into the Crater for a game drive with the hope of witnessing the Big 5. In Africa, the Big Five consists of the lion, rhinoceros, leopards, elephant, and Cape buffalo. All of these animals are visible within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, including the crater, and are protected thanks to Tanzania's wildlife conservation efforts.

Afternoon transfer to central Serengeti, making stops at the Maasai boma, Olduvai Gorge, and Shifting Sands en route to the Seronera region.

Engage in late afternoon game drives in the Seronera region of Serengeti, seeking out the area's permanent predator population. Spend the night at Pumzika Luxury Safari Camp.

2nd September 2024: Morning game drive in Seronera region. Afternoon transfer to northern Serengeti in pursuit of the Wildebeest Migration. Late afternoon transfer to Mawe's Gnu Migration Camp for your overnight stay.

3rd September 2024: Full day game drives within the heart of the Wildebeest Migration, to include patrols along the Mara River in the hope of witnessing the the River Crossing - the annual highlight of the world’s safari calendar.

Late afternoon transfer to Nasikia's Kaskaz Mara Camp for your first night stay.

4th September 2024: Early morning transfer to the launch site in the Mara Region of Serengeti for a hot air balloon ride in aerial pursuit of the Great Migration. 

Concluding the day with game drives along the Mara River. In the afternoon, return to Nasikia's Kaskaz Mara Camp for a leisurely dinner and overnight stay.

5th September 2024: Embarking on morning game drives along the picturesque Mara River region, our anticipation heightens with the hope of witnessing the truly dramatic and awe-inspiring Wildebeest Crossing one last time.

Afternoon transfer to Kogatende airstrip for flight at 1455 to Arusha, arriving at 1820. Met by driver at Arusha Airport and transferred to The Outpost Lodge in Arusha for your 2 night's stay.

6th September 2024: During your leisure time at The Outpost Lodge, kindly inform us if you require any assistance in organising activities for the day or if you prefer to have your guide accompany you and show you the best cuisine in Arusha before your return.


7th of September 2024: You are required to check out of your hotel by late morning. However, if you desire to explore the town for the day, you can leave your bags with the reception and continue to utilise the hotel's facilities. Inform us if you require a guide or want to arrange any special activities for the day.

Ensure you are prepared for your airport transfer at least 3 hours before departure to allow ample time for check-in. Your flight, QR 1476, is scheduled to depart from JRO at 1755.

When considering an ascent of Kilimanjaro we frequently receive enquiries about what climbers should expect in terms of temperatures and precipitation. While this information is of course useful, it tells only a very small part of the story in terms of informing a climber how they should prepare.


Tipping is a universal custom on Kilimanjaro and on safari and has always constituted a significant proportion of a guide or porter’s salary. It is alleged that there are even companies operating locally that do not pay their staff any salaries and that these workers rely exclusively on tips.
