8 Day TK Lemosho climb with a 7 Day Safari to Tarangire, Lake Eyasi, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti - with flight

This safari itinerary is recommended from July to October when we expect the Migration to be in Northern Serengeti.

Arrival

Martin & Sue 

20th August 2023: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) at 0735 on flight (BA 6188).

Once you have completed customs formalities and collected your luggage, please exit the airport building and then look out for our driver who should be wearing a black Team Kilimanjaro t-shirt and carrying a placard with your name on it, who will be waiting under a shelter for you at the meeting point outside. Our driver will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha for your overnight stay.

Optional: If requested, your safari guide will come to your hotel at approximately 1800, during which he will introduce himself, brief you on everything that will be happening during the safari, and answer any questions you may have.

Safari

21st August 2023: Your safari guide will collect you from your hotel at approximately 0730 for transfer by vehicle to Tarangire National Park for guided game walk and game viewing.

Tarangire Walking Safari

Late afternoon transfer to Lake Manyara National Park for your overnight at Lake Manyara Serena.

22nd August 2023: Early morning game drives in Lake Manyara. Afternoon transfer to Lake Eyasi for your overnight at Ziwani Lodge.

23rd August 2023: Very early morning transfer from your lodge to a location recently reconnoitred by your local Eyasi guide, where we will find some Hadzabe Bushmen hunters to join on their morning hunt, learning aspects of hunting and survival training along the way. Afterwards, we move to a larger settlement where we meet the Hadzabe ladies and learn some of their foraging skills.

Late afternoon transfer to Ngorongoro Crater Rim for dinner and overnight at Rhino Lodge.

24th August 2023: Early morning descent into Crater for game drives in hopes of witnessing the Big 5. In Africa, the Big Five is made up of the lion, rhinoceros, leopards, elephant and Cape buffalo. All of these animals are viewable within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, including the crater and are protected thanks to the wildlife conservation efforts of Tanzania.

Afternoon transfer to Seronera region with visit to the Maasai boma en route to Zawadi Serengeti Camp for your overnight.

25th August 2023: Morning game drives in Central Seronera in search of the region's permanent predator population as we move north towards the Mara River region, where we expect to find a very dense concentration of game.

Late afternoon transfer to Mawe's Gnu Tented Camp for your first night stay.

26th August 2023: Early morning transfer to launch site for hot air balloon ride in aerial pursuit of the Great Migration.

Spend the afternoon exploring the Mara Region. Late afternoon return to Mawe's Gnu Tented Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

27th August 2023: Morning transfer to Kogatende airstrip for flight at 0925 to Arusha, arriving at 1200. Met by driver at Arusha Airport and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

27th / 28th August 2023: Oliver, Sue, Daniel, Chris, Mathew, Philip & Robyn arrive at JRO and transferred to hotel in Arusha to meet you.

28th August 2023: At leisure in Arusha, please let us know whether you need any assistance with organising activities for this day. Perhaps a day trip to Arusha National Park.

Your chief guide will come to your hotel for your pre-climb briefing at approximately 1800, during which he will introduce himself, brief you on everything that will be happening throughout the duration of the climb, check any kit that you may have concerns over, issue any kit hire items that have been requested and he will also deal with any final pre-climb administration and answer any questions you may have. 

Kilimanjaro

29th August 2023: Your mountain guide and supporting crew will collect you from your hotel at approximately 0730 to transfer you to Kilimanjaro's Lemosho Gate to start your open 8 Day TK Lemosho β€˜Advantage Series’ climb, finishing on 5th September 2023.

5th September 2023: We will collect you from Mweka Village when you finish your climb and will return you to your hotel in Arusha for your overnight stay.

Departure

Last day: You’ll need to check-out of your hotel by late morning, however, if you wish to wander into town for the day, you may leave your bags with reception and may continue to use the hotel’s facilities. Please let us know if you need a guide to accompany you or if you wish to organise any special activities today.

Please be ready to be collected for your airport transfer at least 3 hours before, to ensure sufficient time to check-in for your flight departing JRO.
